Frequently Asked Questions

How frequently do you update my website?

Each month, we’ll run through in our website maintenance checklist, provide you with one hour of development time (1.5 hours on our annual plan) and put everything in a handy monthly report to see what we’ve done.

What is a core update?

A core update refers to the main architecture your website runs on. For example, if a website was developed using WordPress, we’d update the WordPress core to the latest stable version. Updating benefits you with new features, faster performance and security patches.

What is a plugin update?

Plugins or extensions are pre-bundled code modules that extend the functionality of your website. Popular plugins include WooCommerce, contact forms, social media feeds and image sliders, to name just a few. We’ll make sure everything is update to date and running on the latest version. Just like core updates, plugin and extension updates will ensure your website is secure, running optimally and have access to all the latest features.

What is 24/7 security monitoring?

All websites on our maintenance plans benefit from 24/7 security monitoring to block brute force attacks, bad bots, malware, whitelisting admin IP addresses and a firewall – all to prevent an attack from happening to your website before it happens. Our security monitoring ensures we’re proactive to an attack, not reactive.

What is database optimisation?

Depending on how your website was developed, it’s possible lots of tables within your database are unnecessarily storing data that is redundant and does no benefit your website. Regardless of development, over time a database can become bloated with old page revisions and post / product data. A large database that isn’t optimised can lead to slow queries, directly impacting page load speed for your users. We’ll trim away all of the data you don’t need to keep your website running smoothly.

What is image optimisation?

Image optimisation reduces the file size of the images on your website, without reducing the quality. Resizing the images to be the perfect resolution and optimising them for web means they’ll load faster which positively impacts your search engine rankings and user experience. Where we can, we’ll replace your existing images with the recommended SVG and WebP file formats.

What is a website backup?

A backup is a exactly what it says – a full backup of your website. On the monthly we’ll backup your website twice and store it externally from our server for maximum security. On our quarterly plan, we’ll backup your website once a week. On our annual plan, you’ll benefit from a backup every 24 hours. If you make any changes to your website that you want to revert, we can role back to the latest backed up version. Please note we charge a £35 fee for website restorations.

What are design and content changes?

Website and content changes are small tweaks to your website. You may want new to add new content to a page, change some images, adjust your styling or add a banner to notice to your website. Essentially, any small tweaks to your website are included. You’ll be allocated an hour per month (1.5 hours per month on our annual plan) which we find is enough time to keep your website fresh and up to date. Please note that unused hours to not rollover to the next month.

Keep things fresh and at optimal performance with our maintenance packages.
